Preparation for practical training

No prior explanations will be given in the classroom for the morning practical training/afternoon national exam course.
Also, practice of knotting(tying ropes) may not be possible depending on the time.
Use the instructional materials and the video below to adequately prepare yourself.

Check before Departure (1’st and 2’nd class)

LS17 is deployed at the Otsu and Osaka examination sites, and FR20 at the Kishiwada site.

Hull, Deck and Other parts

Inspect from a position where you can see the entire required area.
Inspect by actually touching and moving them.

Check the expiration dates of equipment and other supplies, the number of items needed, and their availability.

Mooring and Unmooring

In practice, regardless of wind direction or current, it is easier to start with the rope on the bow side of the boat for the unmooring(release) and on the stern side for the mooring.
Unraveled ropes should be stored securely.

Others

Knotting

“Fisherman’s bend”, “Double sheet bend” and “Reef knot” are not required in the PWC exam.
The exam will grade the completed knot, not the method of tying it.
